Welcome

CHURCH AT SEA MINISTRY

We are a non-profit 501 c3 organization that seek to provide the physical, spiritual and moral welfare of every Seafarers who visits in the Hampton Roads area. We are here to provide various services that will enhanced their work environment, family relationship and spiritual walk with God.

OUR CORE VALUES:

Life, Faith, Compassion, & Family

Approximately 3,000 vessels pass through the Port Hampton Roads each year. Under Virginia Port Authority there are numerous marine terminals and one intermodal container transfer facility: Lamberts Point Norfolk Southern Coal Pier, Kinder Morgan Elizabeth River Terminal (ERT) , Perdue Terminal and Enviva Terminal.  All on the harbor of Hampton Roads. The agency handles the operations of national and international shipping companies. Each ship consist mostly 20 crew member including the Captain. Shipping companies employs crewmembers from different nationalities. Making this ministry a mission field in itself. There are Seafarers from China, India, Philippines, Germany, Ukraine, Poland, Russia, Croatia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Japan, Indonesia, Israel, etc. While in port in Virginia, crewmembers have free time and have liberty to go out. They need transportation and guidance while in port. Others, need visitation for spiritual and emotional support. The Norfolk Seamen's Friend Society leads the way in providing these kinds of assistance to our Seafarers. These kinds of opportunities makes it possible for us to be missionaries at home. An opportunity to minister to the people from all over the world is right here in our backyard. Therefore you can do a mission without leaving the country by getting involved in the Seafarer Ministry here in Hampton Roads.

Did you know that 90% of what we owned and used came from the ship? If not for the Seafarers we would not have what we have today. They are an integral part of world economy. We know they exist but we have not focus much attention to who they are, what they do and their needs. The life of each seafarers are very demanding and challenging at the same time very unique. Most of them have 9 or 10 months contract at a time. That means they will only see their families and relatives 3-2 months or less at a time in a year. While at sea or at port often times they are over worked and no time for themselves. They are one of the most deprived groups of people in the world.  They are deprived of any social life, family life and spiritual life. Help us reach out to Seafarers by supporting us today.  Thank you and God bless.
